What is a Fiscal Intermediary?

A fiscal intermediary is just a fancy word for financial agent. The fiscal intermediary is not a direct service provider, but handles the business end of securing services and supports; the third party between you and the CMH organization.

We provide payroll services, bill payments, benefit administration, contract negotiation, record keeping services, management of funds, etc... As your fiscal intermediary we will also handle the legal and technical details that apply to any employer. We will serve as your payroll agent and represent you to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Michigan Department of Treasury.

The use of a fiscal intermediary helps ensure that all appropriate payroll tax filings and payments such as social security and unemployment are correctly calculated, withheld, paid and reported. We also take the burden of administrative paperwork off of you, your family, and support staff.
